Legal
By accessing and using Mongoori Rides, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and all applicable laws and regulations in the State of California.
All renters must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid, unexpired driver's license. We reserve the right to verify your driving record before confirming any reservation.
Vehicles must be returned on time to the designated location. Prohibited uses include off-roading, racing, commercial towing, sub-leasing the vehicle to third parties, or any illegal activities. Smoking and pets are strictly prohibited inside our Tesla fleet. Mongoori Rides vehicles are available for Uber/Lyft rideshare use and personal rental use. Renters must hold all required licenses/approvals for their intended use and comply with applicable California law. Vehicles are rented for use within a 100-mile radius of our Irvine location; travel beyond that radius requires our written approval in advance, which may be conditioned on an increased security deposit, a long-distance fee, or both, disclosed to you before you travel. Any recovery, towing or service cost arising outside the radius is billed at actual cost. Long-term rentals (multi-month agreements) are available and subject to the additional terms set out in Section 14 below.
Renters are responsible for providing proof of active insurance or purchasing our premium coverage. In the event of an accident, you must notify Mongoori Rides and local authorities immediately.
All payments are processed via Stripe. Total costs include the rental rate, applicable taxes, and any potential cleaning or supercharging fees incurred during your trip. Charging, tolls and other usage charges are billed to the payment method on file as they are incurred, and you are responsible for keeping that method valid and funded — a declined payment does not defer the amount owed. Where a balance remains unpaid after we have given you notice by text or email, we may restrict new bookings and platform access, and we may apply a remote access restriction to the vehicle (for example PIN-to-Drive) at any time while that balance is outstanding, including during the rental period. Normal service resumes within 2 hours of payment confirmation.
You may cancel a booking subject to our tiered cancellation policy. (Tier 1) Cancellations made 7+ days before pickup: 100% refund. (Tier 2) Cancellations made 72 hours – 7 days before pickup: 100% refund. (Tier 3) Cancellations made 24–72 hours before pickup: 50% of the rental charge is refunded; the remaining 50% constitutes a cancellation fee. Of that cancellation fee, 25% of the rental charge is paid to the Host as minimum compensation for their lost booking opportunity (reflecting that re-booking success rates drop to approximately 25% in this window), and the remaining 25% of the rental charge covers Mongoori Rides platform costs actually incurred, which include: (i) Stripe payment processing and refund handling fees (non-refundable upon cancellation); (ii) customer service operations for cancellation processing and host notification; (iii) marketing and customer acquisition costs that are unrecoverable when a booking does not complete; and (iv) platform infrastructure and administrative overhead allocated per booking. (Tier 4) Cancellations within 24 hours of pickup: no refund is provided; 75% of the rental charge is paid to the Host to reflect their full loss of income and vehicle availability, and the remaining amount covers platform operational costs. Platform service fees are non-refundable in all tiers. These cancellation fees constitute liquidated damages under Cal. Civ. Code § 1671 and are proportionate to actual costs and losses incurred by the respective parties at each tier, consistent with applicable consumer protection principles and in line with industry standards for P2P vehicle-sharing platforms (such as Turo). These cancellation fee terms are disclosed to you prior to payment completion for your explicit acknowledgment. Refunds are processed via Stripe and may take several business days to appear on your statement.
If you list a vehicle on Mongoori Rides, you represent that you have the legal right to do so, that the vehicle is properly insured and maintained, and that you will comply with our host guidelines. You are responsible for the accuracy of listing information and for ensuring the vehicle is available at the agreed pickup time and location. Hosts acknowledge their obligations under the California Peer-to-Peer Car Sharing Program Act (Cal. Ins. Code § 11580.24), including: (a) maintaining adequate vehicle insurance that covers peer-to-peer car sharing periods, (b) disclosing any known vehicle defects that could affect safe operation, and (c) ensuring the listed vehicle holds a valid California registration and meets applicable safety standards.
To the maximum extent permitted by California law, Mongoori Rides and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or use. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the booking in question.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mongoori Rides, its officers, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.
Any dispute arising from these terms or the service shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree to attempt resolution first by contacting us. If unresolved, disputes may be submitted to binding arbitration or the courts of Orange County, California, as applicable.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Our services are offered from Irvine, California.
We may update or amend these Terms of Use from time to time to reflect changes in our services, applicable law, or business practices. Updated Terms take effect when they are posted on the Mongoori Rides platform. Where a change materially reduces your rights, we will also send notice to the email address registered on your account, and that change takes effect 7 days after we send it. Changes that apply only to bookings made after the update, and corrections or clarifications that do not affect your substantive rights, take effect immediately. Your continued use of the service on or after the effective date of any updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the service before the effective date and may cancel any pending bookings subject to our cancellation policy. Previous versions of these Terms are retained for reference and are available upon request at contact@mongoori.com.
Mongoori Rides offers multi-month vehicle rental agreements (typically 1–12 months) for rideshare drivers and other qualified renters. The following additional terms apply to any rental period of 30 days or more: (a) Billing Cycle — monthly rental charges are billed on the same calendar date each month corresponding to the original booking start date; (b) Renewal — unless either party provides written notice of non-renewal at least 14 days before the end of the then-current month, the rental automatically renews for an additional month at the then-current rate; (c) Early Termination by Renter — if a renter terminates a multi-month agreement before the end of the agreed term, Tier 3 or Tier 4 cancellation fees (see Section 6) apply to the remaining prepaid period; (d) Rate Adjustments — Mongoori Rides may adjust the monthly rental rate upon at least 30 days' written notice; renter's continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the adjusted rate; (e) Vehicle Condition — for rentals exceeding 30 days, renters must permit periodic inspections of the vehicle upon reasonable notice; (f) Insurance — renters on multi-month agreements must maintain commercial auto insurance (or other platform-approved coverage) continuously throughout the rental period and provide updated proof upon request; (g) Governing Law — multi-month agreements are governed by California law and, where applicable, the California Civil Code provisions relating to residential and commercial tenancies shall not apply, as this agreement constitutes a vehicle rental and not a real property tenancy. Questions about multi-month agreements may be directed to contact@mongoori.com.
Mongoori Rides operates as an online marketplace platform that connects vehicle owners ("Hosts") with renters ("Guests"). Mongoori Rides acts as an intermediary (marketplace facilitator) and is not a direct party to the rental contract concluded between Hosts and Guests. Mongoori Rides does not take title to, or direct possession of, any vehicle listed on the platform. Payment collection and refund processing are performed by Mongoori Rides solely as a payment agent acting on behalf of Hosts, facilitated through Stripe Connect. Accordingly, Hosts bear primary responsibility for the condition, safety, availability, and legality of their vehicles, and Guests contract directly with Hosts for the use of those vehicles. This intermediary status is reflected in the limitation of Mongoori Rides' liability set out in Section 8. Mongoori Rides monitors applicable laws and regulations—including evolving e-commerce and platform regulations—and will update this provision as necessary to remain compliant. Questions about our platform role may be directed to contact@mongoori.com.
